James Kwasi Appiah, a former Ghana captain and coach, has applied for the Black Stars’ vacant coaching position.
He claims that he submitted his resume and application for the position after learning from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) that no Ghanaian coaches had applied.
Kwasi Appiah decided to apply for the position because he believes he has the expertise and experience to lead the Black Stars as a local coach.

“Yes, I have applied for the position at Black Stars. “I have added mine to compete with the whites because I heard no Ghanaian coach had applied for the job since the position became vacant,” Kwasi Appiah told Sompa FM in Kumasi.
After Ghana’s exit from the FIFA World Cup, Otto Addo resigned from his position, leaving the Black Stars coaching position vacant on Friday, December 2, 2022.
Otto Addo said that he couldn’t keep coaching the Black Stars because of family issues and his job at Borussia Dortmund.
James Kwasi Appiah was the first black coach to qualify Ghana for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. He worked with the Black Stars from 2012 to 2014 and from 2017 to 2020.
