In addition to the removal of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II picture, the 2022–2023 Asante Kotoko kits now have a new design.
The Porcupine Warriors were chastised for their decision to venerate their monarch by donning armor bearing his visage.
Because the photo was on their jerseys, they felt forced to remove it before to the start of the next season.
According to a tweet from Kotoko, “We have revised our 2022/23 Kits following additional deliberations in partnership with Errea.”
Owner of King Faisal, another Asantehene-based team, Alhaji Grusah, has blasted Kotoko for adopting Otumfuo’s likeness on their shirts.

As he explained to Kumasi-based radio station Kessben FM, “It’s uncivilized to have put “Otumfuo” on the Kotoko shirt.” A village-wide effort, in other words. More than that, Otumfour does not fight and lose.
“Perhaps these Asante don’t understand the importance of Otumfuo. Everyone knows he owns the club, so who doesn’t? It’s not done by any other team in the globe.
There are sponsors on jerseys. As he continued, “This is not maturity; they’ve already done it, but they can always go back and alter it.”
To prepare for the new season, Kotoko will go to Turkey for pre-season training. On the second weekend of September, the new season will begin.
In the updated kits, Otumfuo’s picture is not included.
