Four people have died after a three-storey building collapsed in an upscale district of Nigeria’s economic hub Lagos.
Five people have been rescued and emergency workers have been sifting through wreckage to discover survivors.
The location being built in Lagos Island is said to have caved down amid heavy rainfall.
An official claimed the facility had been cordoned off earlier because work breached safety requirements.

Oluwafemi Oke-Osanyintolu, chief of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, stated that despite the site being shut off the developer continued to carry out construction at evenings and on weekends.
The developer has not yet commented.
Building collapses are common in Nigeria and construction professionals blame this on a widespread disregard of norms.
Last November more than 40 people perished when a partially-built block of luxury apartments crumbled in Lagos.
