Akufo-Addo appoints new Chief of Air Staff

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has named Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe as the new Head of Air Staff.

According to a statement that was released by Eugene Arhin, the Director of Communications at the Office of the President, Vice Marshal Asare Kwasi Bekoe’s appointment will take effect on January 26, 2023.

According to the statement, Vice Marshal Asare Kwasi Bekoe will succeed Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson as head of the Ghana Air Force when he retires.

“In accordance with Article 212 of the Constitution, the President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has appointed Air Vice Marshal Frederick Asare Kwasi Bekoe as Chief of Air Staff, with effect from today, Thursday, January 26, 2023. This appointment was made in consultation with the Council of State.

According to a portion of the statement, “This follows the completion of the tour of duty and subsequent retirement from the Ghana Armed Forces of his predecessor, Air Vice Marshal Frank Hanson.”

In addition, President Akufo-Addo thanked Frank Hanson, the retiring Air Vice Marshal, for his service to Ghana and the Ghana Armed Forces.
